Raffaele Cataldo is a Berlin based jazz and folk violinist specialising in the music of the eastern Mediterranean and Turkey. His projects unite musicians from diverse musical traditions.

From an early age he was drawn to the music of eastern Europe and the Balkans, and as a young man left to search this music out. His travels led not only through the old Ottoman lands, but through Russia and China and South East Asia. Since 2008, he has been deeply involved with Turkish and Thracian Music, studying with masters in Istanbul, Tekirdag, and Berlin.

These experiences and training have refined a uniquely eclectic set of musical sensibilities which grant him a nuanced approach to performance and composition.
